Sushi on 17th street
Elliot and I met in New York City in the winter of 1997 when Caroline Brun invited us both to sushi with a bunch of friends. I knew Caroline since the days of the four-square court in the 6th grade in Los Angeles; Elliot and Caroline met in college at Dartmouth in New Hampshire.
After a few more dinners and many e-mails, Elliot and I were friends. Two years later we became a
couple, we moved in together in Brooklyn, and were joined by Casper in 2000.
California life
In 2004, we moved to Sacramento where I began my residency in Neurology at the UC Davis Medical Center. Elliot started working with UC Davis as well - on campus in the Communications department. We moved into a little house with a big yard in South Natomas, and have been loving northern California ever since!
The proposal
Elliot popped the question just before Christmas, 2006. He planned an impromptu dinner at Slocum House - a restaurant in Fair Oaks - and also asked about making brunch reservations before our six hour drive to Los Angeles the next day. So already I thought something was up...We came back from a great dinner, and in the midst of being tackled by Casper, Elliot shyly took out the ring. Of course I said yes!
